This month's theme will be Fall Festival Plant-Based Foods!
Hosted by Aspen Valley Hospital dietitian Sandy Holmes! Fall fruits and veggies will be featured, including root vegetables, squashes, apples, etc. The goal is to feature the delicious food being harvested in the Fall.
Bring a favorite whole food, plant-based (WFPB) recipe to share, or just come to learn some new recipes. Come try something tasty and new and join a community of healthy eaters!
What is plant-based?
Plant-based, or whole food, plant-based (WFPB), is based on nutrient rich foods from plant sources, minimally processed, without added oils or chemical additives. It includes vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, some nuts and seeds.
Evidence supports it leads to: healthier weight, lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar, prevention or reversal of heart disease, reduced risk of diabetes and cancer, reduced symptoms of arthritis and autoimmune diseases, good for the environment and animal welfare.
