Nutrition Services There are three registered dietitians on staff at Aspen Valley Hospital. In addition to overseeing the menu and quality of food served at AVH, they provide nutritional counseling to both inpatients and outpatients. People who want to improve their health through good nutrition benefit from our dietitians' services. Our dietitians understand that each client is an individual, and programs are designed to give that person options for meeting goals that fit into his/her lifestyle. All visits with a dietitian require an appointment and physician referral. Classes offered on an ongoing basis include diabetes education for Type 1, Type 2, or gestational diabetes, as well as for metabolic syndrome, a pre-diabetes condition. For more information, please call Certified Diabetes Educator Mary Margaret O'Gara at (970) 544-7394. Computerized nutritional analysis is also available. This includes both a macro and micro analysis, so general nutrition can be evaluated as well as very specific dietary status relative to vitamins, minerals, calories, etc. Following a complete analysis, a client is provided with personalized information about his/her diet with recommendations for improvement. Computerized body composition may also be performed to determine body fat, muscle mass, and fluid content. For more information about nutritional services and consultations, please call (970) 544-1155. |
