After graduation, Suzanne returned west, working in Denver at Rose Medical Center and Craig Hospital specializing in spinal cord injury and tramatic brain injury. She eventually returned to the Roaring Fork Valley where she has worked for the past fifteen years.
Lisa Pranno, PT, DPT, GCS: Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Lisa received her Degree in Physical Therapy at McGill University in 1996. She moved to the US in 1997 and has worked with various patient populations in hospital and clinic settings. She moved to Aspen in 2007 and has been working consistently for AVH Physical Therapy at its various locations. A member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2001, Lisa is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy. She completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2013 at Arcadia University. She currently works with the hospital's inpatient population, facilitating mobility, strength, and safe discharge home for persons with medical, neurological, or orthopedic conditions.
She was instrumental in establishing the Head Injury Team at Aspen Valley Hospital in 2014 with the goal of improving inpatient, outpatient and long term care of individuals that have sustained a concussion/brain injury. She also provides community education regarding brain injury prevention, awareness and support. She regularly treats patients with concussion/brain injury with a research-based focus on a structured return to daily activities, work/school and recreation.
Since 2004 she has been an active member of the Aspen Sister Cities Medical Exchange Program with Bariloche, Argentina. She has transported medical supplies and traveled to Bariloche with the exchange program six times to teach, learn and improve the care of patients in Bariloche. In 2013 she presented at an Argentine disability conference on topics including: exercise for patients with spinal cord injury, improving independence and caregiving for patients with cognitive impairment and accessibility/universal design.
