This month's theme is Breaking Cheese Additions, as cheese is often a tough one to reduce or eliminate. Cheese contains a protein called caseiomorphine, which breaks down in casein and morphine, and can actually have a real addictive effect in some!
We will share expert tips for crowding out cheese, letting go of the cravings and finding healthier and TASTY substitues. Please feel free to bring your favorite cheese substitute recipe or food for others to try.
What is plant-based?
Plant-based, or whole food, plant-based (WFPB), is based on nutrient rich foods from plant sources, minimally processed, without added oils or chemical additives. It includes vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, some nuts and seeds.
Evidence supports it leads to: healthier weight, lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar, prevention or reversal of heart disease, reduced risk of diabetes and cancer, reduced symptoms of arthritis and autoimmune diseases, good for the environment and animal welfare.
