Aspen Valley Hospital Foundation
In 2012, Aspen Valley Hospital formed its own fundraising entity solely focused on encouraging philanthropic support for the current and future needs of Aspen Valley Hospital. This new supporting organization, Aspen Valley Hospital Foundation, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, IRS designated organization that oversees all charitable giving to the hospital, including for its expansion and renovation project. Deborah Breen joined the AVH family in January 2013 to head up this newly formed Foundation as its first president. Deborah, an accountant by training, has worked in the philanthropic field for over 20 years, most recently as the Executive Director of Northern Dutchess Hospital Foundation in Rhinebeck, New York.
Over the past few years since AVH Foundation’s inception, we have developed a board and capital campaign committee, built a comprehensive development program, recruited staff, and have been focused on community outreach to educate the community about the programs, services and quality care Aspen Valley Hospital delivers, and the need for the new facilities to support that high level of care.
While AVH Foundation continues to build a multi-faceted fundraising program, a major focus remains on securing the remaining funding needed to complete the hospital’s $170 million master facilities project, which is now in its fourth phase of construction. With several major lead gifts in hand from several long-time prominent Aspen families, as well as a $10 million gift from an anonymous donor – all in, the Campaign for Aspen Valley Hospital now stands at $43 million. We are well over halfway towards the campaign’s minimum $60 million goal.
