Where families are born....
The Aspen Birth Center
at Aspen Valley Hospital was designed for a memorable birth experience for new parents, those who are expanding their family, and friends and family who will share the experience. Mothers have needed patient amenities from the early stages of labor through delivery and recovery. Fathers have a comfortable place to rest and a mini-office for updating friends and checking on business.
Aspen Birth Center is Designated “Baby-Friendly” Facility.
Of course a birth center is going to be baby friendly. But being awarded the “Baby-Friendly” designation means meeting the criteria identified by Baby-Friendly USA, Inc., the U.S. authority for the implementation of a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals that offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Including AVH, there are just five hospitals in Colorado to achieve this designation.

Certified lactation consultants and a “Bosom Buddies” support group for new moms are just two of the ways AVH staff help new mothers gain information, confidence, and skills to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.
Preparation for the big day is also part of the AVH experience, with a variety of childbirth education classes
offered by registered nurse childbirth educators. We also offer an extensive lactation program
to assist breastfeeding mothers. Finally, our staff can suggest various parent resources
, both locally and nationally, to assist you during this exciting, new time of parenting.
